Music Makes You Lose Control
Are you looking for the best and trendiest spot for Lexington and Bluegrass culture? Well, look no further than The Burl. Located in the heart of Lexington’s distillery district, The Burl is a one stop shop for food, live music, and games. Originally built in 1926 as a loading dock for Texaco Oil, The Burl has deep roots in Bluegrass and classic Americana culture, which provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for their patrons today.
The menu for The Burl is full of classics such as a double patty smash burger and a pork belly Cubano. They also offer a fresh market salad, spicy noodles with chili sauce and onions, and a charred broccoli grilled cheese. Also, for you early birds out there, they offer an amazing brunch menu. Favorites such as a cinnamon roll with pecans, fluffy pancakes, and biscuits and gravy can be found. If you are looking for something a little different you can try their amazing breakfast burrito with steak, peppers, and potatoes or their breakfast burger sandwiched between two doughnuts.
There are plenty of great shows to see at the Burl. There is plenty of live music from the best local musicians and artists the state of Kentucky has to offer. This weekend has an exciting lineup starting Friday, September 23rd, with the band, Harbour! They are making a stop in Lexington between their two shows in Ohio. On Saturday, September 24th, Cedric Burnside & Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears will be making a stop. This show is an 18 and up show so leave the children at home if you are planning to go. On Sunday, September 25th, they host the musical trio Bad Bad Hats. Also performing that night is Wildermiss.
If you’re not interested in the food or the shows, then you should visit the arcade. The arcade is the perfect place to let your inner child loose. There are plenty of classic games to choose from like Pac-Man, Dig Dug, and Street fighter. For the pinball wizards out there hold on to your seat when I tell you that pinball is free on Tuesday nights. It’s a great opportunity to get some practice while saving money at the same time! Take a trip out to the Burl and explore all the great things it and Lexington have to offer.
