Cathy Mattingly is a full-time Realtor, part-time writer, and licensed-but-not-practicing attorney who lives and works in beautiful SCOTTCO - Scott County, Kentucky - which includes Georgetown, Stamping Ground, and Sadieville. A native Kentuckian, Cathy most recently moved to Georgetown from the Washington, DC area when she married long-time Scott County resident Ben Richardson, who had been stationed at the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Virginia. "It was really good to get back to Kentucky," Cathy says, "back to family and old friends." Cathy is originally from Somerset, Kentucky, near Lake Cumberland, and graduated from Centre College in Danville and the University of Louisville law school. She has also lived in Lexington, Louisville, and Northern Kentucky, as well as the Dayton, OH area, and a total of 11 years in the Washington, DC area. In addition to spending time with family and friends, she is passionate about houses, HORSES, music and entertaining. Cathy considers herself fortunate to have travelled all over the world, but Ben jokes that since they got the horses, he’ll never get her out of the barn! Cathy and Ben recently moved to Stamping Ground to a house Cathy designed. When she works from home, you can usually find her on the big front porch in the morning or the big back porch in the afternoon. Cathy says she loves Scott County more than she ever could have imagined, coming from such a large metropolitan area. Having found her little bit of heaven, she loves to help other people find their perfect place here. She especially enjoys working with folks who love animals and care about other people, beyond their own families and immediate circle of friends. When asked to sum up her approach to real estate (and life), Cathy quoted C.S. Lewis, “[Always] do the right thing, even when no one is watching.” Don't miss her blog At Home in the Bluegrass, a celebration of the good life in Kentucky, and catch her on Facebook at Welcome Home SCOTTCO With Cathy Mattingly.
