There is no shortage of events in Central Kentucky in September! Here’s a sampling of just a few things that are going on in your area!
The festival begins with a street dance at 6:30pm Friday evening in Downtown Winchester and continues throughout the weekend with arts and crafts talent contest, a 5K run/walk and a big concert Sunday evening starting at 5:30pm at Lykins Park. Kentucky State Barbecue Festival, Danville, September 6-8
The third annual Kentucky State BBQ Festival will feature three days of some of the world’s best barbecue, good music and family fun. This is an eating event, so bring your appetite and get ready to enjoy America’s original cuisine served up by celebrity Pitmasters from all over the country. Live bands, a child’s play area, raffles and giveaways make this the “go-to” festival of the summer in Central Kentucky. Come out and join the fun at the 2013 Kentucky State BBQ Festival, September 6-8 at Constitution Square in beautiful downtown Danville. Admission and parking are free.
Lexington Roots and Heritage Festival, Lexington, September 6-8
For over 25 years the Roots and Heritage Festival has been a pinnacle of regional diversity providing entertainment & education for all ages. Celebrate our rich heritage with live entertainment, music, kids activities, and a parade. Airfest Georgetown/Scott County Aviation Festival, Georgetown, September 14, 9am-5pm

Apple Festival at Evans Orchard and Cider Mill, Georgetown, September 14-15
Kick off the apple season with the annual Apple Festival at Evans Orchard. There will be fun for the whole family with pony and hay rides, a fun filled play area, craft booths, and huge selection of great food! They will be making their famous fried apple pies, caramel apples, apple cider and of course there will be apple picking!
Chicago at EKU Center for the Arts, Richmond, September 18, 7:30pm

Spoonbread Festival, Berea, September 20-22
Each day is filled with family fun, beginning Friday afternoon with a variety of exhibitors and culminating Friday night with free concerts in Memorial Park and the balloon glow. Saturday is an action packed day with more exhibits, Fun Park activities, 5K Run, tethered balloon rides, motorcycle show, dog show and free concerts in the park.
