Give Your Home A Facelift!
Is younger really better? When it comes to your house, it could be! If you plan on selling your Kentucky home in 2013, keep your home from looking outdated and tired by giving it a facelift! Here are a few simple ideas to give your home a boost without breaking the bank.
- Focus on your front door. The front door is the first thing that people see when they walk up to your house. Make sure it makes a good first impression. Get clean or replace old hardware. For a quick and inexpensive way to freshen up your door, get a can of Rust-oleum spray paint in any color (we prefer Oil Rubbed Bronze), and spray paint the hardware. You can buy it at your local Lowes or Home Depot for around $6.00. You can see a good tutorial on this quick DIY project on our Pinterest page.
- Touch up exterior paint. Ignoring worn-out paint exposes your siding to the elements, which can cause warping and sun or water damage. Take a walk around the house and look for chipping, flaking or peeling paint. If you see any, do a quick touch up with your home’s original paint colors.
- Trim back trees and bushes. Give your landscape a fresh haircut by trimming back hedges, overgrown bushes, or dangling limbs. Look at your home from across the street and check to make sure your home is visible behind large bushes. Check out our previous post about preparing your landscape.
- Clear the walkways. We mentioned in this previous post that you want to clear your walkways of snow and ice. Since most of the snow in Central Kentucky has already melted, take a broom and sweep away any debris or remaining salt left on your walkway, driveway, or porch. If there are any oil stains on your driveway from your holiday guests, clean them up with this mixture of household items.
