Lexington’s First Mountain Bike Trail

September 28th, 2012

With the cooler weather starting to set in, now is the time to do some of those outdoor activities! The weather will be nice this weekend, so why not take the family down to Lexington’s newest attraction, the new mountain bike trail at Veterans Park. Opened last weekend, the new trail represents Lexington’s first dedicated mountain biking facility.

Located in Veterans Park in southern Fayette County, the trail is almost four miles long and is built to standards established by the International Mountain Biking Association for beginners and intermediate riders.

The project is the result of public-private partnership between local government officials and the Kentucky Mountain Biking Association. Lexington Mayor Jim Gray noted the trail as a “huge investment in quality of life, adding to Lexington’s growing reputation as a great place to live, work and raise a family, and as a tourist destination.”
